Dear Abridge News community,

Over the past three years, we’ve been on a journey together. We set out to launch a different kind of media company – one that focused on empathy and critical thinking instead of attacks and clickbait. Our startup journey has been full of ups and downs, but we’ve always been proud of our product and our team.

We recently made the difficult decision to shut down Abridge News. Our company has been a passion project from the start, with our team of volunteers putting countless hours into new product improvements and content, all on top of other full-time jobs and school. However, we didn’t grow as much or as fast as desired, limiting our impact. The truth is that we needed full-time staff to push Abridge News to the heights we had envisioned.

Abridge News was founded as a reaction to the divisiveness that was made apparent during the 2016 election cycle. The 2020 election has made it clear that a lot of those issues still exist. We hope that our startup has made a positive impact on your news consumption routine, and we are optimistic about what the future holds. If you are looking for similar organizations, we recommend checking out one of our partner organizations, AllSides.

Thank you for your support throughout our journey. We will miss you.
